This is a full real-time tutorial where we go over steps on how to paint rocks from silhouettes, to adding form and colour to even adding it into an environment scene!
This post contains the 1 hour step by step tutorial video, the open-layered Photoshop file, my full Photoshop brush set and a range of wallpapers.

I’m also having similar issues as others who have commented. It’s hard to tell which brushes you use to paint and which you use to erase. I have your brush set downloaded but it’s hard to tell in your videos. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

2022-01-04 14:58:43 +0000 UTCHi there! The short keys I use are all pretty much default as I haven’t changed them since I just plugged in the Wacom Cintiq tablet into my iMac. With rotating the brush, I would just right click while on the brush tool in photoshop and use the pop up to manually rotate. Other than that it would usually just be me changing the directions of my physical strokes with my stylus to create. The best way to study lighting would probably be to look at photographs of well lit environments/subjects and simply they in shapes.

2022-01-01 00:27:51 +0000 UTCCrumble up tin foil into a rock type shape or any shape at all, turn on your phone flashlight or any point light and shine around the sides and you will see the shadows and highlights.

2021-12-29 20:54:11 +0000 UTCHello! Few questions if I may. What is your normal brush setting? What are the shortcuts you use to change the size so quickly/brush tip rotation/erasing. I'm guessing for erasing you may use "~" key, but I've noticed you rotate the brush a lot to get the apropriate textures/lighting/shodows etc. Another question - lighting the image. Can you recommend the best way to study lighting? To get that feel, that transforms the silhouette and gives it dimensions. My strokes are always so random and don't make much sense! Need to work on that. Would be great to hear how you do stuff. Thanks!
