Flying Blind on a Rocket Cycle

Flying Blind, sorry for not getting this on the show. One of our guests accidentally ended the stream early. I think Disney has accepted that Captain America 4 might be a significant loss but one that they likely hope they can cover with other wins. What I'm hearing is that they do believe Snow White has a shot at catching the Barbie / Inside Out 2 crowd and reaching a billion dollars. Without having seen the movie and knowing exactly how much they changed everything in the latest reshoots, it's hard for me to say definitively.

Roger, sorry for not getting this on the show. One of our guests accidentally ended the stream early. There are signs that parts of Disney are beginning to return to what works. That's not the entirety of the company, but significant parts nevertheless. For example, the past year we've been hearing that Marvel is working hard to go back to form. Feige has largely dumped DEI efforts for big movies and is refocusing Avengers 5 and 6. Moana 2 may be successful and might be stripped of woke elements. But other segments of the company are still fully under the thumb of insanity. Dana Walden in particular is overseeing a tremendous amount of highly-divisive content that pushes hard into one ideological direction.

Eric, sorry for not getting this on the show. One of our guests accidentally ended the stream early. From everything I have heard regarding the internal reactions, many are being stymied by the "Disney nice" mantra. It's turned into an inability by middle-to-upper management to make corrective statements. I'm sure some of our Disney employee followers are nodding their heads hearing this. Officially, Disney seems to be going with a strategy of "what's good for Universal is good for us" and I do not think they are publicly contemplating that Universal might overtake them nor what that would mean.

Even though Inside Out 2 has done very will and Deadpool and Wolverine will likely do well - considering the reported costs for the Snow White movie and Captain America 4 being in the range of 350-400 million each and the likely advertising costs with each - is Disney looking at blowing $1 billion on these two movies?!! Unless they do incredible, that will wipe out quite a bit.

Congratulations on your 80K subscribers! Thanks for being a voice of reason and keep doing and presenting great things. My one hope would be that the Walt Disney Company will learn from their recent history of failure after failure and say, 'enough is enough!' It's time to get back to the basics! It's time to stop being mediocre, and focus on making great family entertainment in movies and parks, and be an innovation company again. I really want to see them be successful again, but it won't happen until there is a real change in management and values. If they don't course correct, they will become irrelevant to the point of ceasing to exist.

I have a question about the attendance decline at Disney World. If the higher-ups at Disney were acting rationally, it would be an emergency and they would urgently be doing everything they could to reverse the decline. Including firing everyone who’s responsible and changing the overall direction of the parks. However, as we’ve seen at LucasFilm and Marvel, this level of incompetence is not only accepted at Disney, it’s also being rewarded. Do you have any insight as to how the higher-ups are reacting to the attendance decline?
