UWTD 295: Snow

Late that night. Everyone retreated to their rooms after dinner. And on the third floor, Grayfia packed her belongings in silence. She didn’t have much to her name after she left the Gremory House, but the family brought her all of the things she owned.

She was thankful to them for this. These things held memories of her mother and father, and also of the time she had spent in the Gremory House. That is why she needed to take them with her.

“Nee-sama you cannot leave!” However, Euclid made her part of the noise.

“Be quiet Euclid, Master is sleeping upstairs.” She said closing one of her suitcases.

“The rooms are soundproofed. Anyway! Why are you leaving with him?” The nerves on his neck bulged.

“Why would I not follow my Master?” Grayfia couldn’t understand what her younger brother didn’t understand about this.

“Again with that Master thing… he isn’t your Master sister. You just work for him. You don’t have to follow him.” He pleaded in a softer voice after she shot him a glare. However, she soon calmed down. Now, she understood what Euclid misunderstood.

“Euclid, I am not doing this because I have to. I am doing this because I want to.” Since young Grayfia admired her mother who supported her husband as a Maid through everything, and she too wanted to do the same.

“I haven’t known him for long, but since I have met him my heart has always gravitated to him. It is like my body knows that he is the one, the one I have been waiting for.” Euclid’s face contorted like he had bitten into a lemon. His sister was dead serious like always. And if she said that, it must be true.

But, that didn’t make it right.

“Are you going to… leave me behind again?” He clenched his fist hard enough for his knuckles to turn white.

Grayfia froze in her place, however, she soon got to her feet and walked up to him. Her hand slowly caressed his head. She could understand why he’d say that. After all, they had only reunited a short while ago after a long time. And now she was leaving again.

“Don’t worry I won’t be away for long. Master only leaves for a couple of days before he returns to meet Rias-sama. So, I’ll come with him to spend time with you.” Euclid’s heart melted at the gentleness in Grayfia’s eyes.

It reminded him of their mother, the softness and love took him back to the days he was a kid. But, the day he last felt his mother’s gentle words was hundreds of years ago, now it remained as nothing but a faint memory.

‘I think I like Nee-sama’s show of affection better. Her hand pats my head so gently like I am the same little boy from way back when… Kugh, I just can’t!’ He almost let out a wide grin, but his happiness soon took a dark turn.

“Aiiya! Aaaahhh! My Ear Nee-sama!!” She tugged on his ear and he folded like a lawn chair.

“You sure have guts to blackmail me emotionally.” Grayfia’s gaze could freeze hell over three times.

“I-I’m sorry…. I didn’t want you to go away!! I swear I won’t do it again!” Tears streamed down his face but Grayfia didn’t budge.

“Horse stance for the entire night. Also, no breakfast tomorrow morning.” Euclid’s body went limp at the later part.

“N-No breakfast…?” Euclid crumbled on the floor. He wasn’t hurt about not having breakfast. As a devil, he could go without food for months, but the kick was that Grayfia prepared meals for him. And now he wouldn’t get that heaven-like meal before she left.

“Horse Stance now. I’ll be putting a gravity spell on you.” However, Grayfia didn’t care how sad he was. She had her way of disciplining people, and her brother wouldn’t be spared either.

‘What a lively pair of siblings.’ Upstairs, Adam looked below and chuckled. The sudden spikes of mana made him curious as to what happened, but it seemed like he peeked in on a farewell. He planned on apologizing later.

“What are you staring at the ground for?” Akeno’s voice came from the bed.

“Nothing,” He walked over, and for a change, Akeno had a full nightgown that covered her body without revealing too much of her figure.

“I am not going to try anything on you, so sleep in peace, if you want I can give you a lap pillow?” With sat up with an inviting smile.

“Hmm, tempting. But, let’s call it a day, I know you are tired.” He climbed on the bed with a smile when a small blush appeared on her white cheeks, “Also let’s not make more noise or Ophis will wake up.”

Between them, Ophis was deep in sleep. For some reason, she decided that sleeping in Adam’s room wasn’t a one-time thing, especially after she found herself hugged by both the next morning.

‘Soft. Comfortable.’ She had said with her face deep in Rias’ bosom.

But, today Akeno came along to sleep next to Adam as Rias took a break. Before she wouldn’t have done that, but now the active change pleased him a little. However, spending nights with her came at a risk.

“Well, if you decide to have your way with me I wouldn’t be able to resist. So, I feel a little sorry for Ophis-chan, poor girl will have to wake up to my feverish voice.” She wouldn’t stop her teasing, however, it wasn’t hard to discern that these weren’t simple jokes.

“I won’t do that, don’t worry.” Adam sighed.

“Really? I said I wouldn’t resist though.” Akeno said in shock.

“Go to sleep.” She giggled at his answer.

Teasing him was fun because of his responses when it got to him. And teasing Adam was easy. Others would doubt that he may be playing along, but she didn’t. The evidence had always been in front of her, and she would like to do it more before he leaves. However, right now she had a genuine question.

Her eyes went towards the little kid sleeping between them. Jet black hair, pure white skin, and a doll-like appearance that’ll make any woman squeal at her cuteness. Ophis, The Infinite Dragon God. Although she had a heavy title, in the end, she looked like a child.

“Adam, do you think our children would look as cute as her?” Akeno asked poking Ophis’ soft and chubby cheeks.

“…I think so.” He said after clearing his throat, “If we have a girl, I am sure she’d look just as pretty as you. With your black hair and violet eyes, I think she’d be Super cute.”

The enthusiasm in his voice made her smile. Akeno made a mental note of this before speaking.

“I think that a kid that looks like you would be cuter. Especially, your white hair. I really like it.” Adam looked over, he didn’t seem to believe it.

“Why do you like my hair?” He asked. His brown eyes full of curiosity.

“Cause your hair reminds me of the first snow during winter.” Akeno ran her fingers through his hair.

“You like winters, huh.” Adam made a note of that.

“Yes, as a child I always watched the first snow every year with my mother. That pure white snow made me happy. It became the highlight of my year every time. But I also lost my mother during such a night.” Moving around Ophis, Akeno climbed onto Adam her fingers still playing with the strands of his hair with a smile, “But, that pure whiteness returned to my life again and gave me everything, and I love it even more with each passing day. So… thank you.”

“I didn’t know you were the romantic type,” Adam smiled.

“Neither did I, but I know that you are the bashful type. So, did it make your heart skip a beat?” She leaned closer to his face.

“It sure did.”
