I moved away from the edge and turned at Lucy, and attempted to negotiate with her.
I've put up my hands, signaling her to pick me up, and I started talking.
"How about we started again with Bridget when we get to your place? It's nothing personal, but you need to understand that pretty much everything has changed for me in a blink of an eye, and I am having a hard time coping with what happened to me."
I spoke like a real person for the first time since I've shrunk down to the size of a rat. I have no idea where that came from, but it felt great. Perhaps I could have a decent life even at this ridiculous size.
